Novel approach to D meson mixing

Hiroyuki Umeeda

Due to the difficulty in dealing with charm quark, theoretically analyzing D meson mixing is a challenging topic. Even though some theoretical studies are conducted on the basis of non-perturbative methods, no group has found quantitative agreement with data. In this talk, by introducing the dispersion relation that observables satisfy, we analyze D meson mixing. Supported by the heavy quark expansion (HQE), which offers reliable prediction at high energy, the dispersion relation turns into an inverse problem for determining the observables. We show that the specific solution offered by the standard model can explain data, resulting in a first successful framework in a quantitative manner.
